Sustainable products

Durability and resource conservation

Our products are designed for continuous use and impress with their high-quality materials, precise workmanship, and sophisticated technical design. Whether freight elevators, parking systems, or logistics solutions: we develop systems that continue to function reliably even after many years.

For us, durability is not limited to the product itself—it extends to a well-thought-out service concept. Through regular maintenance, targeted servicing, and intelligent modernization, we maintain the functionality of existing systems for decades. With modernized components and updated control technology, we bring proven systems up to the latest standards. This conserves resources, is economical, and is sustainable.

Durability

One example of this is one of our first storage and retrieval machines, which has been in regular use since 1976 and continues to operate reliably to this day. Its longevity underscores the quality of our systems and demonstrates how sustainable technology can endure for decades.

Conserving resources through service

Our CustomerCareCenter operates around the clock worldwide. Through remote support and precise analysis, we quickly resolve malfunctions, avoid many on-site visits, and thus reduce CO₂ emissions.

Modernization

Instead of replacing entire systems, we focus on the targeted renewal of key components such as drives or controls. This significantly improves efficiency, safety, and energy consumption while extending the service life of the systems.

“Sustainability is more than just a technical requirement. It is a promise to future generations and begins with the decision to build solutions for the future.”

Efficient use of space thanks to elevator and parking solutions

Efficient use of space is crucial, especially in confined urban areas. Our elevator and parking solutions do not require space-intensive elements such as ramps, driveways, or pedestrian areas, and make optimal use of the available space. Whether automated parking systems, air cargo systems, or freight elevators: with individually planned, needs-based solutions, we create additional space where conventional systems reach their limits. This enables significantly more efficient use of the available construction space, increases cost-effectiveness, and offers clear advantages for urban infrastructures and demanding construction projects.

One example of this is the automated parking system at the DOKK1 culture and education center in Aarhus, Denmark. Here, the use of our technology made it possible to create 1,000 parking spaces underneath the building in a space-saving manner – without sealing off any above-ground areas. Resource efficiency through thoughtful planning, operation, and system design

Our products are designed for responsible and efficient use of energy and materials. We take energy-efficient technologies, optimized processes, and resource-saving design into account right from the planning stage. During operation, intelligent control systems and demand-oriented usage concepts ensure low energy consumption. In addition, the modular design of many systems allows for easy adaptation, expansion, or reuse of components. This enables us to create durable, efficient, and adaptable solutions for a wide range of applications.

Groundwater protection with our product

Our parking systems not only meet the highest technical requirements, but also actively contribute to environmental protection, for example in the area of groundwater protection. One example of this is the project in Düsseldorf, where our automated parking system was designed so as not to interfere with the natural flow of groundwater. Thanks to a well-thought-out structural design and consideration of hydrological conditions, we were able to fully comply with all environmental regulations.

Sustainable buildings

Our products and solutions support the implementation of sustainable construction projects and can meet the requirements for building certifications such as BREEAM and DGNB. Whether in air freight logistics, parking systems, or elevator systems, we make a measurable contribution to compliance with relevant sustainability criteria through energy-efficient technology, space-saving systems, and the use of resource-saving materials.

One example of this is the new dnata cargo terminal at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, one of the world's largest and most modern air freight centers, which is certified according to BREEAM standards.
