Bentley’s Abu Dhabi flagship showroom uses car scissor lift from Lödige Industries

The platform size of 4000 mm x 7000 mm (W x L) and a pit depth of 1000 mm make the car scissor lift ideal for showrooms with limited space. With a load capacity of 2800 kg, cars can be transported from one level to the next without the need for a ramp. This means that the number of available parking spaces can be maximised.

Having moved its showroom, which officially opened to customers on January 22, 2020, to a larger space on Zayed Road in Abu Dhabi, Bentley Emirates boasts a display of exquisitely crafted Bentley vehicles across an area of 2,050 sqm. Catering for an audience that is expecting a luxury retail environment, the Bentley Emirates Abu Dhabi and Dubai showrooms were keen to utilise high quality equipment and design for a special customer experience. For example, they are the only Bentley showrooms in the world to feature a luminary facade lit by tens of thousands of LED lights.

With the car scissor lift solution, Bentley Emirates Abu Dhabi has the possibility to transport showroom cars from the ground floor to the mezzanine. Wanders Wagner Architects designed the casing for the car scissor lift, which harmonises perfectly with the showroom. The glass fronted, powerful lift is an attraction of its own and matches the bespoke design and luxury feel of the space. The floor tiles of the lift platform, which match those used throughout are evidence of the careful attention to detail employed.

The showroom uses an existing building, with the mezzanine floor supported by multiple columns. Installing a new lift in the showroom, with limited access to the roof is technically very challenging with a consequential impact on costs. A freestanding lift was the most economical solution to minimise building interfaces, so that no wall is needed to fix guide rails.

Guy Walker, Managing Director Lödige Industries, Middle East commented on the project: “pleasure to work on this project with first class Architect and Automotive Brand, delivering an efficient, luxurious and visually stunning solution, to a client looking to provide their customers with a premium experience.”
