Sustainability at Lödige Industries

Because every movement counts

As a globally operating industrial company, we bear responsibility towards the environment, our employees and future generations. Protecting our ecological habitat has been a central concern of the Lödige family for generations. Manufacturing our machines and systems is energy-intensive, which makes it all the more important to keep the impact as low as possible. Today, renewable energy already covers 100% of the electricity demand at our Scherfede production site, 88% of it from our own generation.

“Our company-owned hydroelectric power plant has been reliably supplying us with energy since 1965 and symbolises our responsible thinking from the first generation to this day.”

Philippe De Backer | Chief Executive Officer

Our contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

As a provider of material flow solutions, we align ourselves with several of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, including clean energy and fair working conditions. With our company-owned photovoltaic system and hydroelectric power plant, for example, we contribute to the expansion of renewable energies.

7 - Affordable and clean energy

By using energy-efficient drive systems, intelligent control systems, and our own power and water supply facilities, including a photovoltaic system and a company-owned waterworks, we promote the economical use of resources and the expansion of clean energy.

8 - Decent work and economic growth

Our production logistics enable ergonomic working conditions that avoid physically demanding activities such as heavy lifting, thereby actively promoting occupational safety. In addition, we invest specifically in the further training of our employees in order to promote sustainable and inclusive employment.

9 - Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

By developing innovative and digitized infrastructure solutions, we are strengthening sustainable industry and urban logistics.

11 - Sustainable cities and communities

Our products, such as car parking systems and airport logistics solutions, support sustainable urban development through efficient use of space and modern mobility concepts.

12 - Responsible consumption and production

We focus on durable, modular systems and resource-efficient production. The targeted replacement of individual parts also supports a genuine circular economy.

13 - Climate action

Our systems are designed to enable particularly efficient processes, which reduces energy consumption and thus lowers emissions. In addition, our remote service offerings actively contribute to minimizing CO₂ emissions by eliminating the need for many on-site visits. Furthermore, our space-saving solutions enable projects that specifically serve to protect water resources.

Double materiality analysis

As part of our sustainability strategy, we conducted a double materiality analysis in accordance with the ESRS standard. This involved systematically assessing both financial materiality (the impact of sustainability topics on our company) and impact materiality (our impact on the environment, society and the economy) in order to identify material risks and opportunities as well as the expectations of our stakeholders, derive priorities and strategically manage our sustainability goals.

Sustainability Organisation

At the beginning of 2023, Lödige Industries established a sustainability department under the responsibility of Nico Just to actively drive the development and group-wide anchoring of a sustainability strategy. The sustainability department is in regular, close contact with the relevant specialist departments and reports directly to top management. Since 2026, Glen Fraser Bell has been supporting the sustainability controlling area.

In addition to systematically embedding sustainability in our processes, products and everyday work, we are also dedicated to establishing group-wide sustainability reporting to promote transparency and the targeted management of sustainability-related measures.
