Because every movement counts – for sustainability and the future
As a global industrial company, we bear a special responsibility towards our sustainability, our employees, and future generations.
Protecting our ecological habitat has been a central concern of the Lödige family for generations. That is why we are consistently committed to reconciling industry and sustainability. The manufacture of our complex machines and systems involves energy-intensive processes. This makes it all the more important for us to keep the resulting impact as low as possible.
Today, 100% of the electricity required at our production site in Scherfede is already covered by renewable energy. Of this, 88% is generated in-house and 12% is purchased green electricity, which is mainly used during peak load periods. Because what we do today should still be sustainable tomorrow.
Lödige - Sustainability Highlights
Our contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
As a provider of material flow solutions, we align ourselves with several of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, including clean energy and fair working conditions. With our company-owned photovoltaic system and hydroelectric power plant, for example, we contribute to the expansion of renewable energies.
Double materiality analysis
As part of our sustainability strategy, we conducted a double materiality analysis in accordance with the ESRS standard. This involved systematically assessing both financial materiality (the impact of sustainability topics on our company) and impact materiality (our impact on the environment, society and the economy) in order to identify material risks and opportunities as well as the expectations of our stakeholders, derive priorities and strategically manage our sustainability goals.
Sustainability management
At the beginning of 2023, Lödige Industries established a sustainability department under the responsibility of Nico Just to actively promote the development and group-wide implementation of a sustainability strategy. The sustainability department is in regular close contact with the relevant departments and reports directly to senior management. Since April 2025, Viola Toews Reimer has been supporting our team as a working student in the area of sustainability communication. In addition to systematically embedding sustainability in our processes, products, and everyday work, we are also dedicated to establishing group-wide sustainability reporting to promote transparency and the targeted management of sustainability-related measures.
